There is NEVER a day off!
What?! I have to workout EVERYDAY?! Nope; the idea here is that you never stop working on making your body better by movement, rest, nutrition & MOBILITY! (In no particular order.. JUST DO IT!)
Movement: If you feel good, move! This doesn’t have to be some 20 min all out AMRAP, but can be a hike in the woods, a walk/bike ride on the b-line trail, a Sunday afternoon Yoga class (This is what Jenna and I are doing today), get out and enjoy this awesome weather by MOVING! Movement will help to loosen things up and get your body some fresh oxygen rather than sitting on your couch all day.
Sleep/Rest: IS essential for recovery! This excerpt is from Robb Wolf:
Sleep deprivation mimics many elements of the aging process. One could make the argument that how you feel when you are sleep deprived is likely how you will feel if you are both diabetic and old (sleep deprivation dramatically impacts insulin sensitivity). Improved sleep time and quality will help you: Lean out, avoid depression, autoimmunity, heart disease…it might even help you be a better athlete.
Nutrition/hydration: With proper food/water intake (we recommend the Paleo Diet) you will recover faster, perform better, think better, be sick LESS, plus more!
It is simple yet remarkably effective for fat loss and halting or preventing a number of degenerative diseases. To reap the benefits of the most effective nutritional strategy known, one need simply build meals from the following: Paleo FAQ.
Mobility: The mobility WOD program is intended as a jump off point for athletes to systematically begin to address their nasty tissues and grody joint mobility. Use at your own risk and stop if you think it’s gonna hurt you, your spine is going to come out your throat, or your face goes numb. But, understand that you should be responsible for your own business. Don’t wait until you need a new knee.
Outside Magazine just released the top 10 Fitness blogs for health advice and commentary, so you can get online and go outside. Mobility WOD is #4! So if you have not taken advantage of this free tool on your own time, then you are a tool! So instead of being one, how about you use the blog as a tool to help yourself out! BEGIN TODAY!
