Encouraging WOrDs
Everyone needs encouraging words and motivation from time to time. With the first full week of 2011 from the calendar, I want to give all of you some encouragement and motivation to keep up your new goals or to help to set some! Some of you have started off strong with new workout routines (CrossFit), new ways of eating (Paleo) and some new goals to achieve.
A couple things that have helped me out in making changes and setting goals:
1. Writing down goals and progress: Part of CrossFit’s power lies in the fact that it is a fitness program that is “Measureable, Observable and Repeatable.” In other words, measure and record your performance, post it for the world to see and repeat to measure improvements. Our website is set up as a blog site, so use it! Post your comments, results, and thoughts to everyday posts or at least a personal journal to see your steps of progress!
2. Eat well, sleep well: Whether your setting goals for your fitness, job, relationships etc., you must eat and sleep well! Food intake is so essential in keeping your body humming like a finely tuned Indy car on race day. When we look at our bodies like a finely tuned Indy race car, would you put bottom grade fuel and back of the shelf oil in your million dollar car and expect to race, or even finish?! Your body is only worth what you make of it . Get started with a good breakfast (Jenna’s Paleo Blog) and see how much better the rest of your morning goes.
Sleep/Rest is just as essential. You must get a good night’s/or day’s (for our law enforcement crowd) rest for proper brain and body rejuvenation. Black out your room. No LED lights from alarm clocks, fire alarms,TV’s etc. Do not watch TV or check email for at least 1 hour before bed. Go to bed early, get at least 8-9 hrs of sleep. You should wake up without an alarm, feeling refreshed. (RobWolff)
3. STAY ON TRACK! Keep looking at and working toward, what you want to achieve, watch videos, talk with your local support group (Hoosier CrossFit) to stay inspired and motivated! When you meet your goal, set a new one and keep working! This is not a day, week, month or even year long goal set we are working toward. We want a lifetime of goals to look back on and say to ourselves, “Yea, I did that! I’m badass!”
6 Week Challenge begins Monday at 8pm! DO IT, Be part of something great!
